Mesa Verde “Getaway” in the Four Corners - Mancos, CO
(866) 529-2480 (US, Canada)
We always enjoy folks who travel with their horses to enjoy the beauty of southwest Colorado. There are many trails in the area. We don’t have any that start on our property, but a short trailer ride can get you to trail heads with wonderful rides into the La Plata mountains.
If you are bringing a horse, we require a signed liability release form (click here for release form).
If you are traveling with your horse(s), we can provide "lodging" for one or more.
It depends on whether they will share a 60 foot corral or need to be separated. Prior
agreement
at time of reservation is required. Their lodging isn't as luxurious as
what we provide for you, but we have 2 large (60ft) sand corrals with water and loafing
shed. We move our mares to another pasture, so there are no discussions about who
is head of the herd! The corrals are visible from the main house. Be sure your horse's
shots are current.
Horse trailer: Our driveway entrance is up a hill with some relatively tight turns. Please discuss with us any concerns regarding your trailer access. (For reference, we drive a Ford F150 with a bumper hitch two horse slant trailer without any trouble.) But if you're bigger, be sure to talk to us about it. We have a couple of places near the barn on a circle drive plus near the corrals to park your trailer.
Fiona and Tessa are our horses, one morgan-passo cross and one passo fino.
They are living a very soft life on the Sundance Bear "ranch". They get fed regularly, get to roam a large pasture and hill and are ridden rarely. And lately they've even gotten demanding about WHEN they are fed. Who's the boss? (Note: you are welcome to say hello and pet them, but they are not available for guest riding.)
