Guest House Details

For up to 8 people, $335 summer and Christmas, $280 winter/spring ($10 per extra person up to 10 max) - winter weekly rates $1,600

Bring the whole family or your best friends and enjoy the Guest House in "western casual luxury" -- comfortable, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath house -- handicap accessible. The Guest House is close to the main lodge, but "over the hill" for privacy.

The house sleeps 8-10 people and can be rented complete or as two separate units.  The great room /kitchen common area separates the two units and is shared “common” space.

We do not provide breakfast, (rooms in the Main Lodge DO include breakfast).  But the Guest House kitchen makes it convenient for guests to eat what they like best at the time they prefer -- and even enjoy in a robe and PJs.  We supply some dry goods (e.g. pancake mix, flour, sugar, spices).

Bedroom units of the Guest House

Unit #1 has a King and day bed (sleeps 3) plus spacious private bath with large Mexican painted sink. The oversized shower has a bench and easy access doorway. The toilet has grab bars for added convenience.

Begin the day with a cup of coffee in the common living room or in your room. For safety/privacy you have your own outside door. (Self-cater $135 for two, extra person $10)

The common living area

This cabin is so comfortable, you'll want to make this a destination instead of a brief stay!  The living area has a comfortable Lazy-Boy sofa, recliner and rocking chair. Add to that the TV, and gas log fireplace and it's just as wonderful as home! It's easy to prepare meals for the whole family in this well equipped kitchen (electric range/oven, microwave, coffee maker, full size refrigerator, pantry). All the pots/pans and dishes are already here for your convenience.  The dining room has great views of the La Plata Mountains above Durango, Colorado, with French doors leading to the deck and BBQ grill.  Plan to watch a sunrise with early A.M. cup of coffee,  or  be amazed at the sunset colors on the La Plata  after glow.   The summertime awning provides shade from the morning sun, which is brilliant at 7000 ft. elevation.

The French doors are the main entry for the Guest House, located on a deck  separating the two units.  Grab a chair.  Put up your feet and unwind.

Unit #2 is a two bedroom suite with a King in one room and two Queens in the other (sleeps 6).  The shared bath is between these rooms with a separate door from each bedroom.  There are 2 Mexican style ceramic sinks and a tub/shower plus grab bars for the toilet. (Self-cater $230 for four, extra person $10)

Spend time relaxing, and you'll understand how the majesty of Colorado ended up in John Denver 's music. "Rocky Mountain High" is now our state song!

"Upon our arrival, I asked Bob about the rules. "No rules, just imagine you are at grandma's house.  It was even better than grandma's: usually grandma doesn't have the 'casual luxury' that Bob and Sue have created.  But they did make us feel like family.  They made our vacation special.   (Puerto Rico)"
