Weddings are the best reason for a family party. It is a celebration of life and family. To assure that you and your friends are the focus, we ask that your group rent the whole inn for 2 nights. One night for arrival and early preparation - the second for the wedding and celebration.
Date: June may be the preferred month by many brides, but it is not best in Mancos! Weddings at Sundance Bear are outside events, and June is the height of bug season accompanied by wind. May can be windy - but no bugs. July is often the monsoon afternoon rains. (An hour or maybe 2 of thunderstorms that keep summer temperatures in check.) We suggest August - October as some of the best weather of the year.
Give us a call to reserve your date at Sundance Bear Lodge.
What date? What time of day? Will shade from the sun or lights at dusk be needed? What food (a meal?) and who is providing the food (family? Caterer?) How will the food be served? Music for background or dancing? A dance floor? What is Plan B in case of bad weather?
We can provide some advice in the planning, but it is your wedding. During the two nights you are at Sundance Bear, we'll provide some extra help to back you up but we are not wedding planners. There are always last minutes details that get forgotten; we'll try to help so that your guests do not notice any gaps.
How many guests: 20 - 75 is a comfortable range. Typically that means the bride has a list of about 60, before the family encourages growth to 75! More than 75? Start by calling Blue Lake Ranch in Hesperus or Sophias in Dolores.
The role for Sundance Bear Lodge: We are a B&B first and foremost. The wedding is your party.
The 2 night rental provides accommodations for up to 8 people each night. Other guests to your wedding might consider staying at Willowtail Springs, Flagstone Meadows, Lost Canyon Lake Lodge, and Chicken Creek B&Bs - all in Mancos.
